Around here in Fort Myers FL, there are many pizza joints. They specialize, however, in New York-style pizza. Thin crust or thinly hand tossed crust. The sort of pizza, so thin you could stack on itself a dozen high and stills clear the bed if slid it underneath.
A new one opened late last month in the Downtown area. It's called Capone's, so I was so very hopeful. You know, the Chicago/Italian connection suggested everything that I dreamed of in pizza. Alas, the menu is hand tossed/coal fire oven. I will report later if it has that NYC taste and texture.
But I miss the crust, crisp yet not tough, with the next layer being the cheese and the wonderful tomato sauce on top, and for me Pepperoni, sausage, black olives, and onions.
If I couldn't make it to Green Mill, than I would head over to Davanni's (below) with the delightful personal pan pizzas.
Now, what to do about my craving for LeeAnn Chin's Oyster Wings?
