December 13: No Man of Her Own (1950)
Helen Ferguson (Barbara Stanwyck) is desperate. Pregnant and abandoned by her boyfriend Steve (Lyle Bettger) in San Francisco, she's traveled cross-country searching for him and when she finally catches up to Steve in New York, he won't even see her. He shoves under his door a one-way train ticket back to San Francisco. Despondent, Helen leaves and takes the train back. It is the July 4th holiday.
It is on the train she meets Hugh and Patrice Harkness (Richard Denning and Phyllis Thaxter); Patrice being pregnant at about the same stage as Helen. Hugh and Patrice take this stranger Helen under their friendly, loving care. This young couple are genuinely sincere and they open up to Helen. . .
I will stop there; this story is such a ride and I want you to enjoy it.
