Meet Me in St Louis (1944)
It covers the months leading up to the opening of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis. It has romance, song, comedy, and wholesome family values. Nothing like poverty, hunger, illness, or even weather disasters ruffle the feathers of the Smith family. I don't think they could handle it. They fall apart if the phone rings with a long distance call or Father insists on a bath before dinner.
Still, we feel we need the sugar coated spritz cookies and the marshmallows in the hot cocoa. That is what Meet Me in St Louis symbolically and amply provides.
Just don't forget to brush your teeth before bed.
